UNBOXING: My First VoxBox!

I am so excited, because I get to share my first ever VoxBox and all of the treats that came with it!

Firstly, let me tell you a little bit about how I managed to get my greedy little hands on all the beauty products:

Enter: Influenster

Influenster is a websit/app that allows any self-proclaimed beauty guru to rate, review, and ask others in the Influenster community about new, popular, or any beauty products worth a conversation. The great part is, it's open to anyone; you don't have to be an YouTube star or have a small village of followers on Instagram to be able to win FREE BOXES OF MAKEUP. Is anyone else as excited about this as I am??

When you review a product, ask a question about a product, or answer someone else's question, you earn points that are rewarded with "badges." Badges are good. They are what get you in the running to win a box. Once you've been invited to an Influesnter "campaign," you will be a small questionnaire. Fill out the questionnaire and the Influenster team will email you with a confirmation if you are chosen for a box!

From there, all you have to do is enjoy the products, reflect about how #blessed you are, and review the goods on your social media platform(s.)

My first box (and the only one I have received so far) is called the Poppy VoxBox. It arrived in the mail looking adorable.

Like this.

When I opened it up, I was surprised to find a solid variety of products (and even some coupons!)

These are the products that were included:

     Working clockwise, we have:
     1. Tide 4-in-1 Pods plus Downy
     2. Nyakio Kenyan Coffee Face Scrub
     3. eva.nyc Freshen Up Dry Shampoo
     4. 7th Heaven Soften Sock Masques
     5. Nivea In-Shower Body Lotion
     6. Rimmel Scandaleyes Precision Micro Eyeliner "Black Noir"
     7. (not pictured) Rimmel Oh My Gloss! Oil Tint in "Master Pink"

*Sorry, totes forgot to take a picture of the Rimmel Lip Oil, because it's been living in my purse.*

Here are my opinions on the aforementioned products:

1. Tide 4-in-1 Pods with Downy

These Tide pods are good. In fact, they were all I used in college. I refused to use anything else, because they're just SO handy. They became even handier when they added Downy. So, so magical. Here's the verdict, though. As good as they are, they still don't beat my mom's recipe for homemade laundry soap. (Seriously, the best stuff ever and SO easy to make.) I just can't beat how cheap it is to make my own laundry soap, and the scent is so light and fresh. So much so that when I was trying out these new Tide pods, I found the scent bordering on overpowering. Don't get me wrong, the scent was pleasant. But in the end, I can't say that I like it better than the homemade stuff. That being said, if you find the idea of making your own laundry soap daunting, go with these! They are definitely my first choice of any store-bought laundry detergents.

2. Nyakio Kenyan Coffe Face Polish

I was probably most excited to try this, because the name sounds so intriguing. (Am I right?) I did a little research on the brand before trying the product out, and found that it was a fairly expensive brand (compared to the other products in the box.) I have to say, though, I didn't love it. Don't hate me, though. I think it had to do with my skin type more than anything. It just felt a little TOO moisturizing, almost like there was a film left over on my face after rinsing. It may work really well for dry and/or insensitive skin types, but for me...meh. I have to say, it did smell AMAZING. And luxurious. Like if the Four Seasons was a face scrub, this would be it. So, in my opinion, that makes it way worth it.

3. eva.nyc Freshen Up Dry Shampoo

This stuff is amaaaazing! (You have to sing the "amazing" part, or it doesn't count.) It smells....I can't even explain the goodness. Actually, I can. It smells exactly like DryBar Triple Sec, except it's a fraction of the cost. And I love that you can actually get this dry shampoo in a travel-size. I always need a travel-size dry shampoo...to throw in my overnight bag, my "gym" (lol) bag, my purse....you know. And it's surprisingly hard to find, so I'm excited about this one. Two thumbs up for this product!

4. 7th Heaven Soften Sock Masques

So, as of late... (I love saying that...I mean, I sound pretentious, but like, in a funny way.)...anyway, as of late, I've been loving to take masks with me when I stay in hotels. I don't know why. Everything just seems more pampering in a hotel, and it's a nice treats. This brand, 7th Heaven, makes great masks that you can easily pick up at Walmart or CVS, and they're so cheap! I've gotten face masks from this brand an uncountable about of times, and I always love them. These foot masks, though....they're going to be my new hotel treat. My skin always gets dehydrated in hotel rooms, and these are so moisturizing! I know they will hit the spot. And for the price point, you just can't beat it!

5. Nivea In-Shower Body Lotion

This isn't my first experience with the In-Shower body lotion. I've used it before and, the short version is: I like it. It really is a good alternative to regular lotion, if you're like me and HATE putting on lotion. (?) It doesn't leave your skin feeling sticky at all, just healthy. But it does leave a residue behind in your shower, and honestly, your body (if you are using it consistently.) I like to think of it like hair products: the products are good, but every once in a while, you need to clarify. Otherwise, it can just build up and DAT NASTY. So, I do recommend this, but just be warned. And also, it can cause minor breakouts if you have sensitive skin. But it's still good! Really, I promise.

6. Rimmel Scandaleyes Precision Micro Eyeliner

This is now in my top two liquid, felt-tip eyeliners. This is a big moment, people. I really love this! I love that the tips is so precise, that I can literally get right next to my lashline and make it look like I tightlined if I want to. And its intensity lasts all day, no fading, no smudging. Now my #1 is still my Jordan felt-tip liquid eyeliner, because it does all of those things and is DIRT CHEAP, but  it's not as precise. Life is just a game of tradeoffs. That's the one thing I took from my Econ class. Probably because it's the only thing I understood. Final verdict: this stuff is awesome. Try it. Love it.

7. Rimmel Oh My Gloss! Oil Tint

Like is said before, I keep this in my purse at all times, now. I love it, because it's beautiful, yes. But it also feels like I am doing something good for my lips when I wear it. As opposed to liquid lipsticks, which are like pure torture. The color they sent me is the most beautiful baby pink. If you watch RHOBH, this is the Erika Jayne lip color we've all been searching for. I just love this stuff. Usually, I like lip oils, but I prefer something with a little waxier consistency to create a barrier between me and the world. (I take that back. That was weird.) But I like the formula of this, specifically. It's in between your usual lip oil formula and a lip balm. Win. And it's bubblegum pink, so.....

Well, that was long, but I hoped it helped if you were looking into buying any of these products! If you love to try new beauty products (p.s. they have VoxBoxes for other categories, too.) be sure to check out Influenster! It seriously is so fun! If there are any products you want me to review, just let me know! It would be my pleasure. Really.
